The driver presets following distance and then sets cruise speed using the cruise control function. If someone in front of you speeds up, you will also speed up to the preset speed. If someone in front of you brakes or slows down, you will slow down as well. Some systems allow the driver to resume control, and some systems will bring the vehicle to a complete stop if necessary.
